Post Production

Once we had finished the production process, we began the editing process. We used a software called Premier Pro. When PremierPro is opened up it looks something like this.

Premier Pro is good to use because this  software is used by all kinds of editors, ranging from beginners to people who do it for a living. For example, the film Deadpool was edited using this software, which is a well known film, and at the same time, beginners like us can also use it.

When premier pro is first opened up we are presented with 4 windows. The top left window is the first video screen which is going to keep changing as you start editing. The top right hand window is another video screen which is linked directly to the timeline which is the bottom right window. The timeline is where the construction of the video takes place. The timeline goes from left to right. The bottom left hand corner is the project window which is the 'finder' of the software- footage, audio etc can all be found here.

We also added non digetic sound to our piece. We wanted to find a soundtrack which contrasted the scene that was taking place (contrapuntal sound) We had to find a song that would not get copyrighted. Originally, we wanted to use the song "Uptown girl" by Billy Joel, but as this song is so well known, we knew it would not work. In order to find a song, we researched songs in the public domain. This task was quite challenging as we wanted to find the perfect one, but after research, our group found a song from YouTube that would not get a copyright claim against it.

What we searched up

The software also allowed us to fix our continuity issues to the best of our ability. For example, on shooting day we did not get the right shot of our male character turning our female character over into the tarpaulin plastic but with an action match cut we were able to cut it to make it look like one shot. We also were able to manipulate the space of our location by cutting the shots together. We made it seem like our male character was walking in one straight path when in reality we changed locations of doors.

Premier Pro allowed us to add titles to our sequence which made our sequence seem more professional. The titles also matched our conventions, emphasising the horror genre.
